At the conclusion of the Sept. 14 Board of Education meeting, members reached consensus with direction to develop a revised bond recommendation of facility needs that does not include boundary changes or school retirements.
As a result of this change in process, the following community input meetings will NOT take place:
Cancelled- September 17, 2026- East Antioch
Cancelled- September 24, 2026- Santa Fe Trail
Currently, assembled boundary work group meetings are paused.
The possibility of a public hearing was discussed during the Board of Education meeting on Sept. 14, 2026 and that will no longer take place.
Next Steps: The Action Team will be re-engaged to develop an updated Action Item 6.1.2 recommendation, including a revised bond project list to be presented to the Board of Education during the Regular Meeting on Oct. 12, 2026. Updates will be shared on www.smsd.org.
