Screenings

Shawnee Mission Student Screening Schedule

• Vision: Vision is screened yearly in Early Childhood and in kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 7th, and 10th grades and all students new to the district.
• Hearing: Hearing is screened every three years including Early Childhood, Kindergarten and all students new to the district
• Dental: Per building

Parents will be notified by email, newsletter or other means when screenings will be held. A signed release must be on file for those students exempt from screening per parental request. Parents will be notified of failed screenings and given appropriate referral information.
