The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) is proud to offer a Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) program for 4-year-old students living in the district in the 2020-2021 school year.

Pre-Kindergartners will experience:
· Active Learning opportunities and play-based learning focus
· Challenging and engaging activities to build developmental and school readiness skills
· Learning opportunities to strengthen language, cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development
· Direct instruction with Shawnee Mission educators and interaction with classmates

Pre-K is offered across the Shawnee Mission School District. If a pre-kindergarten class is not offered at your child’s school yet, there may be a school nearby that does offer the program.
SMSD Pre-Kindergarten students must have turned 4-years-old by August 31, 2020, meet state immunization requirements, and be independent with toileting. Students are enrolled in either the morning or afternoon session and access is on a first-come, first-served basis. Sessions are from 8:15-11 a.m. and 12:15-3 p.m. Students may participate in either the school breakfast or lunch program.
