Shawnee Mission Northwest opens an entirely student-directed and produced virtual performance this weekend.
The first production of the 2020-2021 school year for the Shawnee Mission Northwest Theatre and Thespian Troupe #888 opens will be a virtual show, including pre-recorded film and live performance.
The troupe is presenting “Bad Auditions… On Camera.” It is an interactive show that includes audience participation with a vote at the end.
There are two performances, each with a unique ending:
7 p.m. on Friday, October 30
3 p.m. on Saturday, October 31
Tickets can be reserved and performances will be available at: https://www.showtix4u.com/event-details/41422
The show is a “lab play” meaning students direct and produce the show, select the script, and manage the live broadcast.
“Students have to address every roadblock that producing a remote show has given them and they have turned each of these into an opportunity for learning, growth, and exploring new ways of making theatre,” Jason Coats, theatre instructor and show producer said.
