SM Northwest math teacher, Tanner Ybarra, was recently selected as one of “Tyrann’s Teachers” by the Tyrann Mathieu Foundation.
In celebration of Educator Appreciation Week, the Kansas City Chiefs player’s foundation held an essay contest encouraging students to submit an essay sharing what makes their favorite teacher great. The foundation received hundreds of entries and named 32 winners from across the Kansas City metro area. Ybarra was surprised in his classroom with a hand-delivered gift from Tyrann Mathieu Foundation board member, Joe Garcia.
Garcia explained that Mathieu is a supporter of education. He congratulated Ybarra and thanked him for doing a fantastic job.
