This week, the Shawnee Mission School District and Board of Education formally recognized April as National School Library Month.
The Board approved a proclamation at its regular Board meeting on April 26.
It recognized that the purpose of the district’s school library program is to ensure that students and staff are effective users of ideas and information and the role a library plays in supporting lifelong learning.
“The school librarians of Shawnee Mission schools have dedicated themselves to work for quality library programs for all students,” the proclamation noted.
The proclamation called upon all administrators, teachers, students, and patrons to recognize and support the proclamation. We encourage all to thank Shawnee Mission librarians and take a moment to appreciate everything the SMSD school libraries have to offer.
