Breakfast Event Welcomes Back SMSD School Office Staff
Shawnee Mission School District

A group of familiar individuals from across the district, and some new ones, gathered at SM West on Monday, getting ready for the first days of school. School office staff gathered for a welcome back breakfast, hosted by Mainstreet Credit Union.

All attendees were welcomed by Superintendent Dr. Michelle Hubbard who talked about the importance of sticking together and supporting students and families throughout the school year. Dr. Jarius Jones, director of classified human resources, also welcomed the guests of honor before they proceeded to attend some back-to-school training.

The event included time to reconnect as well as informational sessions related to health services, technology, leadership and learning, human resources, and student services. Offices reopen in the school district on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

John Beverlin, President and CEO, thanked all who attended and wished them a great school year, before handing out door prizes. Mainstreet Credit Union started as the Northwest Johnson County Teachers’ Credit Union in 1953 and for a time held offices in a Shawnee Mission classroom. Mainstreet has also supported the Shawnee Mission School District for decades through their generosity to the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation.
