Celebrating National School Social Work Week

The Shawnee Mission School District joins communities across the country in recognizing School Social Work Week.

March 6-12, 2022 is a time to thank everyone who serves as a social worker in Shawnee Mission schools.

The National School Social Work Association of America has set “Time to Shine” as this year’s theme.

These individuals shine bright for students, families, and school communities all year long, Dr. John McKinney, director of student and family services noted.

“Their commitment to the well-being of students and families they serve as well as their compassion and support for fellow staff members is both inspiring and extraordinary,” McKinney expressed. “Caring about the well-being of others isn’t just what they do, it is who they are. As a school district we are so fortunate to have professionally trained social workers in every building and are grateful for their steadfast commitment to their important work.”

We invite everyone to join us in recognizing all SMSD social workers!
