Join us this week as we recognize and thank our food service teams. National School Lunch Week is observed the second full week of October.
Across the Shawnee Mission School District, we celebrate and thank our 191 food service team members. Their roles are critical in school nutrition and helping students to succeed in and out of the classroom.
Families are taking advantage of the free meals offered by the USDA this school year. Staying on pace with the current number of meals served, Shawnee Mission Food Service will provide close to 4 million meals to students. The Food Service Department provided about 2.9 million meals to Shawnee Mission students in 2019-2020.
Food service department director Grace Liss exclaimed, “I really want people to know how appreciative of our staff we are and that we could not do it without them. They are our biggest blessing.”
