Shawnee Mission Students Named to 2022 All-State Academic Team

Shawnee Mission Students Named to 2022 All-State Academic Team
Shawnee Mission School District

Shawnee Mission 2022 graduates Megan Bogner, Shawnee Mission South, and Aidan Hall, Shawnee Mission West are state academic honorees. They are among 40 students from across the state named to the Gannett Kansas All-State Academic Team.

The Gannett Kansas All-State Academic Team honors and recognizes students they have identified as the state's highest performing and most promising graduating high school seniors.

The honorees are chosen from nominations by their high school principals and counselors. One senior is nominated from their respective schools, and those nominees then apply for the honor by completing two essays. The essays are a major portion of the final decision, along with consideration of ACT score, GPA, leadership experiences and school involvement, according to the Topeka Capital-Journal.

Each student nominee was asked to share a headline that might be written about them one day, and to tell the story of the last day that changed their lives.  More information about the student nominations, including their headline and comments can be found here.

There are also eighty-plus students that received honorable mention recognition. Lincoln Bartelt, Shawnee Mission Northwest High School, Claire Winston, Shawnee Mission North, and Ryan Ward, Shawnee Mission East High School are among the honorable mentions.
