Characters from familiar tales traveled toward Downtown Overland Park as the Shawnee Mission West Vikings hosted their annual homecoming parade.
The story-themed event brought students and staff together in costumes celebrating “Once Upon a Homecoming.” There were nods to tales like “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,” “Beauty and the Beast,” and “The Little Mermaid.” Many students and staff members joined the fun representing various clubs and school groups.
As the parade wrapped up, Shawnee Mission West students and staff gathered for a pep rally. Each attendee was asked to pay an entry fee that would benefit the Johnson County Christmas Bureau, an organization that helps local families in need in the month of December. Shawnee Mission West’s varsity football team plays Olathe Northwest at Shawnee Mission School District Stadium, South location for its homecoming game.
