The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) is proud to recognize seniors announced in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program!
A reception for the semifinalists and their family members will be held in the SMSD in November to formally recognize them for their academic achievement.
The National Merit Program has named 16 Shawnee Mission seniors as semifinalists in the 2023 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students took the 2021 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The 16,000 semifinalists named in 2023 represent less than 1 percent of United States High School seniors.
The following students earned semifinalist distinction and will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.
