The Shawnee Mission Board of Education recognized the first Shawnee Mission All Stars of the 20222-2023 school year on Sept. 19, 2022.

The newest honorees are:

Royle was introduced by Principal Blake Revelle and Clara Breneman, a Shawnee Mission East freshman and former student.

Royle taught in a way that everyone could understand, Breneman shared.

“She didn’t just give me confidence in my math skills, she gave me confidence in myself and who I am,” she expressed.

Amy Sachse, a third grade teacher at Corinth Elementary School

Sachse was introduced by Principal Michelle Lord and fifth grader Sadie Atlas, who spoke about the experience she had in Sachse’s class. Atlas noted that Sachse engaged students in many creative lessons including a pen pal project, a podcast, and entering a local Battle of the Brains competition.

“She deserves this award so, so much because she is kind, inclusive, and creative,” Atlas shared. “She makes sure everybody is able to learn how they learn best.”

Both Royle and Sachse were nominated for the 2023 Kansas Teacher of the Year program.

Shawnee Mission All Star awards are presented to staff members who go above and beyond to ensure all students achieve their personal best. Click here for the form to nominate a Shawnee Mission School District team member to be considered for the Shawnee Mission All Star recognition.
