Mary Alice Kelly, school nurse at Shawnee Mission North High School, is the Kansas School Nurse of the Year. The Kansas School Nurses Organization presented Kelly the honor at the 2022 Kansas School Nurse Conference in July.
Kelly was nominated by Nick Englen, a speech language pathologist at Shawnee Mission North. In the nomination, Kelly was described as calm, peaceful, delightful, knowledgeable, humorous, and a sought-after source for students and staff.
“Mary Alice always conveys positivity and helps our students find ways to overcome an obstacle,” Englen shared.
She is a kind, compassionate, and skilled nurse, noted Paula Bunde, coordinator of health services.
“She is an integral member of the Shawnee Mission North team and the health services team,” Bunde expressed.
