Shawnee Mission School District

On Thursday, May 9, the Shawnee Mission School District held a celebration to honor employees who have achieved significant service milestones and those who will be retiring at the end of the school year.

The event featured remarks from Dr. Mary Sinclair, board president, Kimberly Hinkle executive director of the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation, and Dr. Michelle Hubbard, superintendent. All took the opportunity to express gratitude to all present for giving their time, energy, and expertise, acknowledging the positive impact they have made in the lives of students.

"Throughout your years of service, you have provided guidance, support and encouragement to our students, helping them to overcome obstacles and reach their full potential," said Dr. Hubbard. “Thank you all for shining brightly as part of One Shawnee Mission!"

Upon arrival, honorees were welcomed to the event by high school mascots. The event also featured an array of refreshments prepared by the Broadmoor Bistro, the student-operated restaurant from the district's culinary arts Signature Program.

Employees celebrating 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, and 45 years of service were recognized with service pins, acknowledging their long-term dedication to the district. Retirees were presented with gifts and expressions of gratitude, celebrating their contributions and the lasting legacy they have made.
