Shawnee Mission community members, educators and students are invited to join or support the Shawnee Mission School District’s 2024 Polar Plunge Team: SMSD Shiver & Shine.
This event raises money for Special Olympics Kansas, Inc., part of Polar Plunge 2024 Kansas City. In 2023, the Shawnee Mission School District won the event’s award for most participants.

The Polar Plunge will be held Feb. 10, 2024 at Lake Olathe Swim Beach (445 S. Ward Cliff Dr. Olathe, KS 66061)
Here is the event schedule:
9:00 am- Registration Opens
10:00 am- Polar Strut 5K
11:00 am- Opening Ceremony
11:10 am- Costume Contest
11:30 am- Polar Plunge
Polar Plunge participants take a brief jump in cold, icy water to help raise funds. Those not interested in taking a Polar Plunge have the option to join a 5K or support by joining in the event festivities.
Shawnee Mission students, families, and staff benefit from opportunities created through Special Olympics. We are ONE Shawnee Mission and it’s A Time to (Shiver) and Shine!
