The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) is proud to recognize seniors announced in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program!
The National Merit Program has named 11 Shawnee Mission seniors as semifinalists in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students took the 2023 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. The 16,000 semifinalists named represent less than 1 percent of United States High School seniors.
The following students earned semifinalist distinction and will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, worth nearly $28 million. Finalists will be notified of this designation next spring.
