Kent Glaser, Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) Athletic Director, has been awarded the 2025 Kansas Athletic Director of the Year and District 3 Athletic Director of the Year, by the Kansas Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (KIAAA).

“Being named the KIAAA Athletic Director of the Year is a well-deserved honor that reflects his passion for education-based athletics in the state of Kansas,” Dr. David Stubblefield, SMSD Deputy Superintendent exclaimed.

This award recognizes an administrator’s dedication to developing, enhancing and preserving the educational values of interscholastic athletics.  Glaser was nominated by his peers and selected by the KIAAA Membership and KIAAA Past President Council.

“Kent Glaser’s dedication to student-athletes, coaches, and the entire Shawnee Mission School District community is truly exceptional,” Stubblefield added.  “His leadership, integrity, and commitment to expanding opportunities for students have made a lasting impact. His recent efforts to add more middle school sports programs have given countless young athletes the chance to grow, compete, and develop a lifelong love for sports,” he shared.

Glaser reflects on the award sharing, “It’s truly an honor to be recognized by your colleagues across the state!  It’s also a great honor to receive recognition that shows the commitment our school district has made to supporting our programs and students.  To me these are team awards that show how all of us work together.  Special thanks to our School Board, District Administration, and our High School and Middle School Athletic Directors and staff who have worked really well together and allowed me to receive the recognition.”

Glaser was recognized at the KIAAA Spring Conference in Manhattan.
