The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) is in the second year of its strategic plan and there are many action teams that will begin working this school year.  We are seeking parent and community volunteer participants, along with internal SMSD team members, to help implement the strategies and action steps of the district’s strategic plan.

Collaboration from many within the SMSD community is essential to bringing this Strategic Plan to reality. The Strategic Plan was developed by community members and adopted by the Board of Education in June 2024. There are opportunities to be involved with the following strategies: learning, belonging, people, technology, mental health, and facilities.

Here are descriptions of each Action Team strategy that SMSD seeks nominations/applications for, as outlined in the Strategic Plan:

Learning: We will ensure meaningful and personalized learning experiences for all students.

Belonging: We will intentionally strengthen our unified, equitable, inclusive culture to ensure belonging for all.

People: We will enhance our community-centered environment to recruit and retain diverse and exemplary  educators,  staff, and families by being the best place to learn, work, and connect.

Technology: We will ensure the intentional and innovative use of relevant technology throughout the district to achieve our mission.

Mental Health: We will foster an environment that supports the mental, social, and emotional well-being of the entire SMSD learning community, including physical well-being.

Facilities: We will strategically focus resources to support state-of-the-art facilities to accomplish our beliefs, mission, and objectives.

El Distrito Escolar de Shawnee Mission (SMSD) está entrando en el segundo año de su plan estratégico y hay muchos equipos de acción que comenzarán a trabajar este año escolar.  Estamos buscando padres y participantes voluntarios de la comunidad, junto con miembros internos del equipo de SMSD, para ayudar a implementar las estrategias y los pasos de acción del plan estratégico del distrito.

El Plan Estratégico fue desarrollado por miembros de la comunidad y adoptado por la Junta de Educación en Junio de 2024. Aquí hay descripciones de cada estrategia del Equipo de Acción para la que SMSD busca nominaciones/solicitudes, como se describe en el Plan Estratégico:

Aprendizaje: Garantizaremos experiencias de aprendizaje significativas y personalizadas para todos los estudiantes.

Pertenencia: Fortaleceremos intencionalmente nuestra cultura unificada, equitativa e inclusiva para garantizar la pertenencia de todos.

Personas: Mejoraremos nuestro entorno centrado en la comunidad para contratar y retener educadores diversos, personal y familias ejemplares al ser el mejor lugar para aprender, trabajar y conectarse.

Tecnología: Garantizaremos el uso intencional e innovador de la tecnología relevante en todo el distrito para lograr nuestra misión.

Salud mental: Fomentaremos un entorno que apoye el bienestar mental, social y emocional de toda la comunidad de aprendizaje de SMSD, incluido el bienestar físico.

Instalaciones: Enfocaremos estratégicamente los recursos para apoyar instalaciones de última generación para lograr nuestras creencias, misión y objetivos.
