ParentSquare The Shawnee Mission School District is excited to announce the district’s transition to ParentSquare as a unified communication platform, starting in the 2026-2027 school year.

The Board of Education approved the adoption of ParentSquare on June 8, 2026, and this will serve as a replacement emergency and mass notification for Skylert/School Messenger. ParentSquare also is designed to streamline school communication under one umbrella to improve the user experience. This will be an important way for families and staff to receive emergency messaging as well as important announcements from the district and schools. Through a phased implementation, ParentSquare will provide a more streamlined communication experience for families. It will also support communication within the district in light of components of the recently passed Substitute for House Bill 2299. Staff and families will receive official district invites to ParentSquare from the district in early August.
