2020 Research & Development Forum Goes Virtual

Aerospace
Shawnee Mission School District

The 58th annual Research & Development Forum is going virtual for 2020. The R&D Forum is a showcase of projects and displays that illustrate the academic excellence of Shawnee Mission students.

We invite students and families to engage in activities that support Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math or STEAM activities. Take a photo or video clip of your project or art and upload it to Twitter and use the hashtag #SMSDRandD.

Post your project anytime from May 1 through May 3. If you aren’t able to upload, send your photo or video to askthedistrict@smsd.org and we will upload it for you.

Be creative.  Use materials you have at home. Think about a project, experiment, or art piece you can design and share. The focus this year is on sharing fun activities and interesting projects you are working on at home. There will be no formal categories or judging of exhibits this year.

Projects or work that you completed when school was in session are also eligible to enter.

“This is a wonderful opportunity for our families,” Crystal Willamson, sixth-grade teacher at Trailwood Elementary noted.  “I enjoyed participating in the Research & Development Forum when I was a student in Shawnee Mission, and this is innovative opportunity for my students.”

We look forward to seeing the innovation and creativity students and families are engaging in at home. Thank you for sharing your learning experiences and helping us honor the legacy and tradition of the R&D Forum! For more information, you may visit the webpage here.
