Blue Star Awards Presented to Shawnee Mission Performers

At the 17th annual Blue Star Awards, two Shawnee Mission East High School students were honored for their outstanding performances in school productions.

Starlight Theatre bestows Blue Star Awards to recognize achievement and excellence in high school musical theatre.

Janie Carr was presented with a Blue Star Award for Outstanding Actress in a Lead Role for the performance of Ariel in “Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” presented by Shawnee Mission East. As part of this honor, Carr is invited to travel to New York City in June to participate in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards.

Aidan Connelly was presented with a Blue Star Award for Outstanding Actor in a Featured Role, for the performance of Chef Louis in “Disney’s The Little Mermaid,” presented by Shawnee Mission East.

Blue Star nominees walked a red carpet and attended an awards ceremony held at Starlight Theatre. This year, nearly 5,000 students and 48 Kansas City area schools participated in the Blue Star program and 176 nominations were presented. 

 

 

Blue Star Awards
