This month, culinary arts students in the Shawnee Mission School District began a season of serving meals to dinner guests by hosting a culinary homecoming.

They welcomed Elise Landry, who graduated from the Broadmoor Bistro and Shawnee Mission School District in 2010. Click here to see a video.  She mentored Shawnee Mission’s culinary arts and hospitality students, working with them in the kitchen to prepare a five-course meal for the restaurant. The meal featured menu items highlighting her travels around the world such as butter poached crawfish, pork and pickles, and pecan kulfi.

Shawnee Mission culinary arts and hospitality students will continue serving meals at the student-run restaurant, the Broadmoor Bistro at the Center for Academic Achievement on Wednesdays throughout the school year. Click here to find out more about the Broadmoor Bistro or to make a reservation.
