Jessie Rood-Kiblen, gymnastics coach and physical education teacher at SM Northwest, was recognized at Kauffman Stadium recently as one of the BlueKC Coaches with Character.

The honor is presented to coaches who, through their leadership on and off the field, are helping to strengthen youth sports in the Kansas City area and are making our community a better place to live, work, and play.

Rood-Kiblen was a July 2018 honoree and was recognized with a group of Coaches with Character at Kauffman Stadium. Rood-Kiblen was nominated by SM Northwest athletic trainer Daniel Fletcher wo said she “reflects the discipline and character it takes to be a successful athlete and coach.

“Jessie has a mission to help encourage individuals to pursue and live an active lifestyle,” Fletcher wrote in nomination materials. “The students appreciate her upbeat personality as a teacher and respect the model which she sets for them as they become adults.”

The Coaches with Character honors are presented by the “C” You in the Major Leagues Foundation in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City (Blue KC).
