The Johnson County Department of Health and Environment and Safe Kids Johnson County provided bike helmets to students at Comanche Elementary School.

“Providing bike helmets to students is a good way to teach them about bike safety,” explained Jill Raiford, health educator for LiveWell Johnson County and Walking School Bus.

“We teach about bicycle safety during our Walk to School Day celebrations or at Bike Rodeos, but it is important to focus on bike safety all year,” Raiford said.

When asked, principal Missy Green, shared that a number of Comanche students rode their bikes to school and without helmets. Comanche was selected to be the recipients of the donated helmets.
