Community Invited to Upcoming Facilities Forums
Shawnee Mission School District

The Shawnee Mission School District hosted the first of five Facilities Forums at Shawnee Mission East. The open-house format encouraged families and patrons to drop in and learn about proposed facility renovations and improvements. Click here to see a video.

Patrons are welcome to attend any of the four remaining drop-in forums that best fits their schedule.

Remaining Facilities Forums are scheduled as follows:

October 8, 2019 – SM Northwest High School Media Center, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
October 15, 2019 – SM West High School Media Center, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
October 22, 2019 – SM South High School Media Center, 5:00-6:30 p.m.
October 29, 2019 – SM North High School Media Center, 5:00-6:30 p.m.

The first forum was held in the SM East library media center with 13 stations featuring specific facility topics including: middle and high school renovations and furniture, elementary school rebuilds, asphalt, roofs, security and technology. District personnel, architects, and engineers hosted each station to answer questions and listen to feedback.

“We want to share potential renovations and infrastructure issues to give our families and patrons a clear understanding of the breadth and depth of our school, sports, and support facilities,” said Bob Robinson, executive director of facilities. “We are hosting five forums, one at each high school, so we can listen to their comments and feedback. We are still in the planning stages of making recommendations to the superintendent.”
