The first days of school for Shawnee Mission students in the 2020-2021 school year have changed from their originally published dates. Students will start school on the following days:
August 17: Classes begin Grades 1-6, 7, 9 & 12
August 17: Early Dismissal-Grades 1-6; Conferences Pre-K & Kdg.
August 18: Classes begin Grades 8, 10-11
August 18: Pre-K & Kindergarten Conferences
August 19: First Day for Pre-K and Kindergarten
The change was approved by the Board of Education at the June 22, 2020 Board of Education regular meeting. The recommendation to change was made in order to provide staff with additional professional development prior to school starting, and ensure successful implementation of the school reopening plan.
