KC Symphony Plays Music at Pickup and Go Meal Time

The Kansas City Symphony musicians recently brought their talents to Hocker Grove. Elena Talley, principal music librarian, and Shannon Finney, associate principal flute, played music for families driving through Hocker Grove for Pickup and Go Meals.

Talley plays the clarinet and has been with the symphony for 30 years. Finney has been with the symphony for 26 years. They both have been involved with the KC Symphony’s community outreach efforts at schools and senior living facilities. With the cancelation of many live performances due to COVID-19, Talley was looking for creative ways to bring music to students.

Talley and Finney played a variety of specially arranged duets for their instruments during the lunch pick up.

“They’re playing beautifully, thank you!” shouted an elementary school student from the car window as they drove through the circle drive.

Talley hopes to present more live music performances in July. They selected Hocker Grove because of the shade the walkway provides.
