Shawnee Mission student artists are in the spotlight.

Recently, the Shawnee Mission Area Council PTA (SMAC PTA) held an open house to recognize students who submitted their work to the 2018-19 PTA Reflections Program. Students across the district submitted visual artwork, literature, photography, musical compositions, films, and choreography. Reflections Artwork will be on display at the Center for Academic Achievement, 8200 W. 71st St. through January 14.

This year, students were encouraged to interpret the theme “Heroes Around Me.” The SMAC PTA received 105 entries from across the district. The Shawnee Mission School District will formally recognize students who have received the Award of Excellence at 5:30 p.m. on January 14, before the Shawnee Mission Board of Education meeting.
