Shawnee Mission Congratulates National Merit Semifinalists
Shawnee Mission School District

National Merit Semifinalists from across the district were invited to a reception this week to be formally recognized for their academic achievement.

Superintendent Dr. Mike Fulton, high school principals, and district leaders attended the reception to recognize the students and applaud them and their family members for their success.

Dr. Fulton extended his congratulations to the honorees and wished all of the students well as they prepare for college and career.

The National Merit Program has named 14 Shawnee Mission seniors as semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students took the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. More than 1.5 million students took the preliminary test and approximately 16,000 semifinalists were selected nationwide.

The following students earned semifinalist distinction and will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, worth about $31 million that will be offered next spring.
