The Shawnee Mission East boys golf team earned the first-place title at this year’s Kansas State High School Activities Association (KSHSAA) 6A boys State Golf Championships this spring.
The following Shawnee Mission high school students also earned Top 20 placings at the 6A state golf championship:
Andrew Scholz, fifth place, Shawnee Mission East
Joseph Bultman, seventh place, Shawnee Mission Northwest
Will Harding, seventh place, Shawnee Mission East
Walter Honnold, 11th place, Shawnee Mission East
John Dierks, 15th place, Shawnee Mission East
Coach Evan Scobie attributed the team’s success to the great leadership of team captains, Will Harding and Andy Scholz, and team members pushing one another to succeed throughout the season.
“Our team was focused on how every shot counts,” Scobie said. “I told them all how proud I was of all of them staying focused on the task at-hand, which was to win state.”
