The Shawnee Mission North Navy Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) just added to its long list of National Championship titles.
The team earned First Place in the Armed Regulation Drill at this year’s NJROTC National Championship held in Pensacola, Florida.
The corps of 35 Shawnee Mission North students also earned the following placements in other competition categories:
Second Place in Unarmed Regulation Drill
Third Place in Overall Athletics
Third Place in Sit Ups
Fourth Place in Push Ups
Sixth Place Overall
The Shawnee Mission North NROTC was one of 26 schools in the country to qualify for the National Championship and earned their spot after winning their 13th consecutive regional championship.
The dominance of the students in this program over the past 14 years has been impressive at the National Championships, Dennis Grayless, NJROTC instructor said. The NJROTC now holds 35 national titles and is concluding their season with a 72-5 record.
