Shawnee Mission Recognizes Citizenship Writing Contest Honorees
Shawnee Mission School District

Students from across the district were honored for their talents with the written word at the Center for Academic Achievement on Feb. 10.

Prior to the Board of Education meeting, a ceremony was held in honor of award winners in this year’s PTA Citizenship Writing Contest. This year, students submitted poems and essays inspired by the theme “The Leader in Me.”

During the ceremony, students were presented with ribbons, medals, and handshakes. A reception followed, where honorees were able to take photos, enjoy refreshments, and pick up a gift of a journal for future writing endeavors.
