The National Merit Program has named 14 Shawnee Mission seniors semifinalists in the 2020 National Merit Scholarship Program. These students took the 2018 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants. More than 1.5 million students took the preliminary test and approximately 16,000 semifinalists were selected nationwide.
The following students earned semifinalist distinction and will have an opportunity to advance in the competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, worth about $31 million that will be offered next spring.
