Shawnee Mission Students Compete in SkillsUSA Nationals

Several Shawnee Mission students enrolled in the district’s Culinary Arts and Hospitality Signature Program are now SkillsUSA National Conference honorees.

The students recently traveled to Louisville, KY for the 2018 SkillsUSA National Conference.

SkillsUSA is a partnership of students, teachers and industry working together to ensure America has a skilled workforce. SkillsUSA serves more than 335,000 students and instructors annually and, on average, about 45 competitors from around the country earn a spot in each national conference category.

Shawnee Mission’s national honorees are:

Reis Miller – Second place in Culinary Arts

Allen Pepito – 20th Place in Commercial Baking

Amit Israeli – 10th Place in Restaurant Service

“I am very proud of results these students achieved,” Justin Hoffman, Culinary Arts and Hospitality instructor said.
