The Shawnee Mission School District applauded longtime employees for their dedication and service at a ceremony on Thursday.
Retirees and service pin recipients represented more than 3,800 years of service and more than 4.5 million hours of service to students.
The event theme wished all honorees “Happy Trails.” Shawnee Mission’s 2019 Retirement and Service Pin Ceremony speakers, including Brad Stratton, board president, Dr. Mike Fulton, superintendent, Kimberly Hinkle, executive director of the Shawnee Mission Education Foundation and David Smith, chief communications officer, wished all in attendance the best as they take the next steps on their journey.
“We can’t even begin to calculate the tens of thousands of students whose lives have been changed for the better because of you and your dedication to providing them with the best education possible,” Mike Fulton, Superintendent said. “You are helping to build the bridge to the unlimited possibilities our students have yet to discover."
Service pins were presented to employees with 20, 25, 30, 35, and 40 years of service. Retirees were also presented with gifts and expressions of appreciation for their work in the Shawnee Mission School District.
