State Leaders Seek Thoughts from Community Members about Early Childhood

This week, the Shawnee Mission School District served as a host partner for an engagement session focused on improving early childhood systems in Kansas.

Community members gathered at the Center for Academic Achievement to share their thoughts. The information collected at this session, and similar sessions across the state, will be used to help create a state strategic plan for early childhood.

Superintendent Mike Fulton thanked those who attended the session. He spoke about how this work plays a key role in making the Kansans Can vision of the state leading the world in the success of each student a reality and will help ensure each student is college- and career- ready.

With help from the event hosts, attendees were asked to answer questions about attributes in the community that support early childhood, their vision for early childhood in the community, and what areas need improvement.
