Strategic Planning Volunteer Opportunities

The Shawnee Mission School District (SMSD) Board of Education approved the strategic plan for the 2019-2024 school years at the June 24, 2019 meeting.  The process of developing the strategic plan involved more than 180 members of the SMSD community, including teachers, students, administers, parents and community members, along with input through a ThoughtExchange which gathered feedback from more than 1,500 people.

Now, the work of implementing the Strategic Plan has begun. There will continue to be multiple and varied opportunities for public input, in order to ensure the ultimate plan serves the needs of all students. There will be a number of different groups which carry parts of the work moving forward. Some of those groups already exist or will have appointed memberships. Even so, there will be a number of different opportunities to be involved.

Once you sign up, you will be considered for different volunteer opportunities this school year and throughout the process.
