Even more students are beginning the 2019-20 school year in Shawnee Mission schools as multiple grade levels held their first day of school on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Many on Wednesday started their very first day of school as they entered Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten classrooms. Across the district, family members and the younger students shared hugs and took photographs as the milestone day began. Then, the students spent time getting to know their teachers, classmates, and what they will be learning about this year.
On Tuesday, middle schools welcomed back eighth-graders while high schools welcomed sophomores, juniors, and seniors to the new school year, joining students who began their first day on Aug. 12. Students enrolled in Signature Programs also attended their first classroom sessions at the Center for Academic Achievementand theCareer and Technical Campus.
Welcome to all Shawnee Mission School District students to the 2019-20 school year! We are excited for all of the unlimited possibilities yet to be discovered!
