Coach Bo Black, Shawnee Mission Northwest football coach, has been recognized as ‘High School Coach of the Week” by the Kansas City Chiefs.
In a presentation in front of the high school team, Coach Black thanked members of administration, coaches, and players for their dedication and outstanding performance this year.
Coach Black led the Cougars to a 5-1 record so far this season and are undefeated in Sunflower League competition. Coach Black “is so much more than a football coach,” Angelo Giacalone, athletic director shared. “He instills in his coaching staff and players what we hope SM Northwest athletics can represent; positive work ethic on and off the playing field, accountability, and passion.”
The SM Northwest football program ranked fifth in the State Class 6A and earned a first round bye as a result of the team’s 27-24 victory against Bishop Miege last week.
In its 24th season, the 2020 High School Coach of the Week is a joint initiative of the Kansas City Chiefs and the National Football League. The program is designed to recognize and reward Kansas City area high school coaches for superior performance on a weekly basis while honoring individuals who are shaping today's youth and tomorrow's leaders.
