John Bartel, principal at Crestview elementary, recently spent a night at the school building to congratulate students and staff for achieving a goal.

The Crestview community had been challenged to raise funds as part of the school’s PTA fundraiser. Students, family members, and staff surpassed their fundraising goal.

The funds will be used to support field trips, arts, and science, technology, engineering, and math initiatives at the school. When the community surpassed its goal, fifth-grade teacher Michael Fanning provided a camping tent and Bartel fulfilled his promise to spend the night outside. Several members of the community stopped by to express their support for the principal.

“I was very appreciative of the students and parents that stopped by to say hello,” Bartel said.
