Wednesday, May 8, 2019 is National School Nurse Day and we thank all of the Shawnee Mission School District nurses for the many contributions they make to support the health of Shawnee Mission students and staff.
“They provide necessary health care every day so all students can learn, play, and participate with their peers,” Shelby Rebeck, director of health services, said. “Our nurses work closely with families and medical teams to ensure each student’s health plan is followed and they provide an environment where the focus is on helping all students to be safe, healthy, and ready to learn.”
School Nurse Day is celebrated on the Wednesday within National Nurse Week, which concludes on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, who is credited with founding modern nursing.
We encourage everyone to take a moment to thank Shawnee Mission School District nurses!
