The Shawnee Mission Education Foundation concluded their visits to Shawnee Mission high schools to present seniors with scholarship offer letters.
Last week, they visited Shawnee Mission Northwest and presented $125,003,400 in scholarship offers.
“This gives me a big wave of relief,” Adrienne Louisa Reine, SM Northwest senior said. “My family and I don’t know that much about the application process and this is a huge help.”
Several Foundation board members assisted with the letter presentation and distribution.
Jo Yun, board member, noted that Scholarship Shawnee Mission opens doors and creates equity. “So many colleges and universities signed up so quickly to be part of this program, we are changing the conversation,” Yun noted. “Best of all, colleges want our students.”
This week the Foundation visited Horizons High School where they presented six students with scholarships.
Senior, Dakota Cullor is looking forward to sharing the good news with her mom. “She will lose it when I tell her,” Cullor said. “I’m still in shock.” Cullor wants to study graphic design after she graduates in December.
The Foundation is hosting meetings for families of students who received scholarship offers to help answer any questions. Meetings will be hosted at the Center for Academic Achievement, 8200 W. 71st Street at the following dates and times:
October 23, 24, and 29
