Performing Arts
Shawnee Mission recognizes the benefit of studying the arts for students to inspire creativity, to develop critical thinking skills, and to engage in problem solving and cooperative teamwork. Dedication to this curricular area helps prepare students for success in the concept and design age of the 21st century.
The success of arts students in Shawnee Mission is a direct result of a strong standards-based curriculum and a talented staff dedicated to high achievement for all students. All arts teachers participate in district wide professional learning communities, which provide a culture of collaboration. This ensures continued development of best practices and performance-based assessments to promote student achievement.
