Play Center Schedule
Shawnee Mission Parents as Teachers playgroups in the play center offer children an opportunity to build social skills and enjoy play time with their parents, model appropriate play and interact with other parents. The Play Center is open to all children currently enrolled in the Shawnee Mission Parents as Teachers program (birth to 36 months).
As you arrive at the Early Childhood Education Center, please enter through Door 1. We will scan can your driver's license and give you a visitor badge. If technology works like it should, we will only need to scan your driver's license once.
The Play Center will be held on Fridays from 9 am to 11 am and selected Saturdays (listed below) from 9:30 - 11:30am. We are asking families to limit 1 hour of play time and please pick up before you leave. No Registration Necessary! Please see flyers below with more information.
Play Center Information:
The Shawnee Mission Play Center is a place for parents and children who are enrolled in Shawnee Mission Parents as Teachers. The Play Center is a place for the following:
- Play, bond and have fun with my child.
- Play, socialize, and engage with other friends and families.
- Meet new families with children enrolled in SMSD PAT.
- Explore the outdoor play area if weather permits.
- Talk to a Parent Educator about parenting resources or developmental concerns.
Play Center Rules:
- Please leave food and drink at home.
- Stay with your child and supervise their play.
- Model responsibility and help put toys away.
- Change diapers in the bathroom on the changing table/place in a plastic bag then put in the trash can.
- Clean your hands and your child's hands often.

When arriving for the Saturday play center, enter through Door 15 and proceed to the play center (orange hallway).

Inclement weather: The Shawnee Mission Parents as Teachers Program follows the Shawnee Mission School District's guidelines for inclement weather. If school is cancelled due to poor weather conditions, all PAT personal home visits and events will be cancelled. Your Parent Educator will contact you to reschedule your visit. Please watch your local news for school closings. Due to health and safety guidelines, times and dates are subject to change.
Please no food or drink and model clean-up skills as you and your child put toys away after play.

Inclement Weather - PAT staff and play center follow all Shawnee Mission School District weather cancellations. Please check your local news source or the main SMSD website for more information. If SMSD is closed due to poor weather conditions so are the PAT home visits and the play center.
