Bond 2021 Project Overview

This January 2021, Shawnee Mission School District residents will vote on the school district’s proposed $264.22 million bond package. Click here for ballot and voting information. 

A series of proposed projects have been identified in order to make lasting facility improvements with the goal of benefitting every student and to support student learning and hire additional teachers.  The proposal includes updates across the district for students in Pre-K through 12th grade.

Strategy 5 of the district’s Strategic Plan states we will strategically focus resources to support state-of-the-art facilities to accomplish beliefs, missions, and objectives. Shawnee Mission’s objective is that every student will have a personalized learning plan that will prepare them for college and careers with the interpersonal skills they need for life success. 

Bond Goal
The Shawnee Mission School District will continue to be ranked among the finest school districts in the nation employing exceptional educators who work in state-of-the-art facilities where learners achieve their full potential.

Here are some key facts:

  • The bond package, if approved would result in a $8 annual increase for the owner of a $100,000 home.
  • Shawnee Mission School District currently has the lowest mill levy of all school districts in Johnson County and, based on estimates through 2032-2033, would continue to have a comparatively low rate.
