We will intentionally strengthen our unified, equitable, inclusive culture, to ensure belonging for all.
With a focus on belonging, our work helps to identify and remove barriers to achievement so that all students have the opportunity to reach their highest success. It helps us work together with students, staff, and families to identify how best to challenge past practices that may not have proven effective for all students, and helps our system grow so that all students may realize their fullest potential.
At SMSD, belonging refers to the experience of being included, valued, and connected within the educational community. It involves creating an inclusive and equitable culture, where every student, staff member, and family feels recognized, respected, and supported. This environment ensures everyone has the opportunity to participate fully and thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
