Centralized Special Education Programming

For students whose needs are beyond what can be provided by the students home building, the district has centralized programs.

The Shawnee Mission School District has chosen to close our special education programming for the following reasons:

•   The district has seen a continuous increase in the student’s eligible for special education services.

•   Ongoing challenges of staffing shortages continue to exist. To ensure we can maintain adequate staff to student ratios thus, the district special education programs are at capacity.
