Panorama Survey
Social Emotional Learning, also known as SEL, is the process through which children and adults acquire and effectively apply the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to understand and manage emotions, set and achieve goals, feel and show empathy for others, maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. These skills help individuals succeed in school, careers and life. To help collect and organize student’s Social Emotional Learning skills, the SMSD uses the Panorama Social Emotional Learning Survey. The Panorama Survey measures student’s understanding and use of characteristics such as Growth Mindset, Grit, Self-Management and Social Awareness, as well as their perceptions about school climate, teacher-student relationships, school safety and sense of belonging. Parents have the opportunity to opt-in their students in grades 3-6 and 7-12 annually via Skyward Family Access and the Online Verification Process at the start of each school year. Survey participation is optional. Schools value the data in helping to meet the needs of all learners.
