External Candidates
Applications for all open positions are accepted through the on-line application process. Please review the Application Process for Licensed Professional Candidates or Application Process for Support Staff Candidates outlined below before proceeding with the on-line application.

Once the online application is complete, applicants will submit it electronically. After submitting an application, each candidate receives an email, which acknowledges receipt of the on-line application. Application Process for Licensed Professional Candidates
In addition to submitting the application, a copy of college transcripts and teaching license must be submitted electronically. For those currently in the process of completing a degree, a copy of transcripts prior to graduation should be submitted. All documents, including transcripts, license and references can be uploaded and attached to the application through the on-line process.
Transcripts are essential to the application process. Please submit all college transcripts, including transcripts from junior colleges and degrees not related to education. Applications will not be considered complete until transcripts have been submitted.
To be considered for specific openings applicants must apply for each opening that is of interest. If interested in multiple positions, please check all the positions that you wish to be considered for.
It is important that applications are complete and up-to-date prior to submission. Current information regarding licensure, transcripts, experience and references will be necessary for full consideration. Review your application each time prior to submission to ensure accurate information.
Our principals are focused on the daily educational needs of students; therefore we ask that candidates do not contact building principals to express interest in a position. The Human Resources department will manage applications and can provide information regarding the status of an application and any open positions.
Successful job candidates will be contacted for interviews. Not all applicants will receive an interview. The recruitment process for Shawnee Mission Schools is year round, but specific staffing needs may not be determined until late spring.
Additional Documentation: A negative TB Test administered in the past 12 months as well as a physical statement signed by a physician is required prior to employment.
Application Process for Support Staff Candidates
In addition to submitting the application, any additional information required for the position (i.e. resume, references, and transcripts) must be submitted electronically. Please do not send any paper documents. All documents can be uploaded and attached to the application through the on-line process.
Current District Employees
Transfer requests are only accepted through the on-line internal application/transfer process. Applicants must specify an open position in which you are interested in when submitting a transfer request. Once you complete the application you will submit it to us electronically. You will receive an email, which acknowledges receipt of your on-line internal application/transfer.
If you are a classified employee or a current Shawnee Mission substitute and are interested in a certified teaching position you must complete the full application process outlined under the Application Process for Licensed Professional Staff Candidates section and apply as an outside candidate. Do not complete the internal application because it cannot be processed.
